Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates) defended his first place at the Tour de France cycling race. In Saturday’s 20th stage, which was an individual time trial for 31 km, he finished with a loss of 57 seconds on the winning Belgian Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) in eighth place. He will be the overall winner of the 108th year, on Sunday he just has to get to the finish line in Paris.
Wout van Aert celebrated his second stage triumph this year, the Belgian drove the track between Libourne and Saint-Emilion in 35:53 min. and was 21 seconds faster than the second Dane Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck – QuickStep).
“I focused on this day because winning the time trial on the Tour was one of my big goals. It was a perfect day,” quoted Van Aert’s words on the radsport-news.com internet portal.
There were no changes in the top ten of the standings. Twenty-two-year-old Slovenian Tadej Pogačar defends the Tour triumph sovereignly ahead of Dan Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and Ecuadorian Richard Caparaz (Ineos Grenadiers).
