Tour boss Prudhomme tests negative for corona and returns to race | NOW

Christian Prudhomme was tested negative for the corona virus on Monday. The director of the Tour de France, who had to go into isolation last week after a positive test, will already return to the race on Tuesday during the sixteenth stage.

The test results of the riders, supervisors and those involved will not be officially known until Tuesday morning, but include the press agency Reuters, The team in Sporza report Monday evening that Prudhomme no longer has the COVID-19 virus among its members.

The 59-year-old Frenchman was not the only one who tested positive for the corona virus on the first day of rest last week. A total of four staff members of the INEOS Grenadiers, Mitchelton-SCOTT, Cofidis and AG2R teams were also found to be infected.

There were no cases of corona among the riders last week. They were tested again on Sunday and Monday and the results will be officially clear on Tuesday. In two positive cases within one team, the whole team must go home.

Due to the negative test, Prudhomme will normally return to the race car on Tuesday. Traditionally, the Tour director signals the official start of a stage with a flag signal.

The Tour de France, which lasts until Sunday, will be continued on Tuesday with a mountain stage of 164 kilometers to Villard-de-Lans.
