Tour 2020: Peter Sagan already congratulates Sam Bennett with winning the green jersey

Peter Sagan has resigned himself to Sam Bennett’s victory in the points classification of this Tour de France. In theory, the Slovak can still pass the Irish sprinter, but does not see that happening himself. “Congratulations Sam, with your green jersey in this Tour de France”, thus Sagan.
In the nineteenth stage, Sagan tried to make it by sliding along in a breakaway, but Bennett was almost stuck in the wheel of his direct competitor for the green. The Deceuninck-Quick-Step sprinter moved along and beat Sagan on the line for eighth place.

The difference in the points classification is now 55 points between Bennett and Sagan. With only two stages to go, the BORA-hansgrohe leader is already throwing in the towel. In the last eight years, Sagan managed to win the points classification seven times; in that one year he did not win, he was disqualified.
“I have tried in every way to win today and the team has done everything to make that possible,” said Sagan. “When we took off with twelve riders, there were four teams with two riders. It was therefore impossible for me to respond to all attacks on my own. We did our best and I will also try everything to win the stage in Paris. ”
