Zakaria Aboukhlal has been removed from the selection by Toulouse. Following research from RMC Sport the French cup winner has decided that the 23-year-old attacker must train for himself for the time being. Toulouse itself has also launched an investigation.
Aboukhlal would have been one of five players who did not want to associate with a statement on the international day against homophobia. RMC Sport claims that there is another reason for the suspension of the former AZ player. During the festivities after winning the Coupe de France, things would have gone wrong.
The selection of Toulouse was addressed by Laurence Arribagé, deputy mayor and councilor for sports of the city. Arribagé asked for silence when things got noisy. “Women don’t talk to men like that at home,” Aboukhlal is said to have shouted. Arribagé did not want to confirm in a response whether the incident did indeed occur. The French medium, which relies on various sources, is ‘convinced by several witnesses’ that he is right.
Initially, Aboukhlal was not penalized. Yet he was missing against Nantes last weekend because he refused to wear a shirt with his number printed in rainbow print. A day later, the attacker, after investigating RMCstill punished.
