Me Pierre Dunac, 55, lawyer since 1991 “rather penalist” claims his Ariège origins and salutes his masters. “Professor Roger Merle who, the first at the faculty, pushed me towards a courtroom and made me want to do this job”. Me Philippe Lamouroux “whose cabinet door I shyly pushed open and who immediately gave me work as a collaborator”. Or Me François Cantier “who allowed me to go through difficult trials abroad via Avocats sans frontières”. Elected president in June, in the first round, he swears “never thought of running for office”. “I arrived at the order a little by chance, pushed by Me Martin. I took care of the penal commission. I only knew the order from the outside, especially through binding obligations. I discovered something else, teamwork. I got caught up in the game of working for others. “
1800 lawyers in Toulouse
The success of the criminal commission of the Toulouse bar of lawyers pushed his candidacy. “But I did not imagine going alone. My complicity with Frédéric Langlois, our complementarity, quickly seemed to us to constitute an interesting ticket. Especially useful”, warns the new president.
Frédéric Langlois, 50 years old, lawyer since 1996 defines himself “more like a civil lawyer”. This “Corrézien-Parisien” “grew up” in his profession with another personality of the Toulouse bar, Me Jacques Levy. A long collaboration “necessarily strong, rich, formative” before launching its structure and meeting Pierre Dunac “as part of our commitment to the council of the order”. “We are clearly complementary by our different training”, believe the two lawyers “but also in our way of approaching the problems and the difficulties.” Since January 1, this ticket succeeds the president Manuel Furet, whose quality of the stick must be underlined. President and vice-president, Mes Dunac and Langlois claim “to work, together, as a team with all the council of the order”. “It is not an empty motivation but the will to function collectively as I was able to do it successfully at the criminal commission”, warns Pierre Dunac.
Several lines of work
The installation of the new departmental criminal court, the reform of the civil procedure in matters of divorce “of which the decrees of application are still unknown” or the relations with the magistrates, undermined by the strike at the beginning of the year constitute so many axes of work. “Lawyers are inseparable partners of justice. The heads of jurisdiction know it. Our relations are peaceful and constructive”, notes Pierre Dunac. As for the young lawyers who join the 1,800 lawyers registered with the Toulouse bar, the duo sees them as new colleagues and partners. “There are a thousand ways of being a lawyer today in very different fields, warns Me Dunac. The young generation has this constructive dynamism that we must encourage.”
