Danijel Andjelkovic will become Fenix handball coach next summer: it’s now official.
Since the announcement in our columns, on December 12, of the departure of Philippe Gardent from his post of general manager of Fenix Toulouse at the end of the season, we had mentioned the probable promotion of his assistant, Danijel Andjelkovic, to the post of coach from next summer.
It is now official: it is he who will be the future Toulouse coach at the start of the 2021 school year and for two seasons. Philippe Dallard, President of Fenix, confirmed the information to us on Tuesday, January 12: “Danijel, it was written for a long time. He was already at the club when I arrived in 2012, he went through all the stages, and he is a loyal person. He is a shadow worker, who works on a daily basis. He has his diplomas, he is a reference, he has exceptional qualities and it is, in the end, a choice that could not be more legitimate. “
The half-center clan
The ex-Serbian international who wore the Fenix jersey for five seasons as a center-half, before settling on the bench as assistant at the arrival of Philippe Gardent in 2015, has always been appreciated by its president who, for many years now, saw in him the future coach of the Pink City club.
The time to stand on his own feet will therefore ring for Danijel Andjelkovic, 42, a hard worker and a fine tactician who will be able to rely on a staff in which Rémi Calvel, 37, child of the club and current coach of the center training, who was also his teammate at Fenix (he also played center-half), will be promoted to the rank of assistant, while the training center will be entrusted to Romain Ternel, 34, current center-half of Limoges but who spent two seasons in Toulouse (2016 to 2018) and who was totally seduced by this reconversion in the Toulouse club.
