On Friday, February 17 in the morning, the farmers of Haute-Garonne will demonstrate, blocking a good part of the traffic of the metropolis. Snail operations, spills… are planned.
This Friday morning, a hundred tractors organized in several convoys will converge on Toulouse to demonstrate and “defend their profession”. From Pinsaguel, Capens, Aussonne and Villefranche-de Lauragais, farmers announce snail operations throughout the morning, as well as dumping of manure and old hay on the entire route. “Each convoy has a precise route, with a rallying point at the end of the morning at the war memorial” in the François Verdier alleys, explains Laure Serres, president of the FDSEA agricultural union. In the afternoon, a delegation has an appointment with the prefect, to discuss the main problems of the agricultural sector. “We will leave town around 4 p.m.,” she said.

The defense of production tools
Their demands: the defense of production tools. This concerns “storage aid for water, not removing plant protection products without warning farmers, the Egalim law (law for the balance of commercial relations in the agricultural sector and healthy and sustainable food)…” , says Laura Serres. “Today, without water storage, with falling incomes, a distortion of competition, and an overall deterioration of these means of production, the number of farmers in France is constantly decreasing” considers the first French agricultural union.
“We are here to make ourselves heard, without degrading. Our fight is also that of all citizens”, adds the president of the FDSEA 31.
