After an experiment with the use of drones to fight against trafficking, particularly drug trafficking in Jeanne-d’Arc from Monday to Wednesday, the Haute-Garonne prefecture announces that it will redeploy its machines this Thursday, November 16, 2023 to fight… against urban rodeos, in another district of Toulouse. That of La Reynerie.
“Resurgence of urban rodeos”
“A phenomenon of resurgence of urban rodeos is observed in our department”, observes the prefecture, which considers that this “causes accidents, increases the feeling of insecurity of residents, users and traders of these neighborhoods”, but also that this “ generates considerable noise pollution.
These dangerous behaviors occur over very large areas and the meeting places are often kept secret until the last minute by their organizers.
And state services intend to fight against this “phenomenon of aggressive privatization of public space”.
Overflight authorization this Thursday afternoon
In this tense context, the prefect of Haute-Garonne Pierre-André Durand, authorized a new use of drones, as it had already done several times this summer. This time, it concerns the district of La ReynerieThursday November 16, 2023, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Security forces will thus be able to benefit from wide-angle vision in order to be able to quickly identify and prevent the risk of an incident, while limiting the engagement of ground forces.
The geographical scope concerned
This authorization is geographically restrictedand is therefore limited to the Reynerie district in Toulouse, within the following routes:
- road to Seysses
- rue de Bruxelles
- rue Fontan
- rue Babinet
- avenue de la Reynerie
- rue Paul Gauguin
- rue Lalanne
