Canceled in September 2020 due to the health crisis, the second edition of the Vélotour Occitanie will indeed be held in Toulouse, Sunday, September 5, 2021. The Vélotour, what is it? It is a cyclo-fun event with a cyclist stroll in an urban setting to rediscover your city and keep fit.
More than 3,800 people for the first edition
In 2019, the first edition brought together 3,820 cycling enthusiasts in the Pink City.
An event that is also available in other large cities of France since the Vélotour will begin its tour in Reims (Marne), Sunday August 29, 2021, before continuing to Dijon (Côte d’Or), September 5, at Bordeaux (Gironde), September 12, but also to Orleans (Loiret), Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), Valenciennes (North), Paris …
Departure and arrival in front of the Stadium
The Toulouse Vélotour offers an 18 km route starting from the Stadium and passing through the Creps (the facilities dedicated to the preparation of high-level athletes), the municipal greenhouses before returning to the starting point.
Two other optional walks
Note that two additional options are available to you: in front of the Ramonville Fire and Rescue Center, then the Cité des start-ups and l’Envol des Pionniers, in Montaudran. A course which thus gives pride of place to the east of Toulouse. “This event is meant to be convivial and family-friendly and each year nearly 25% of the participants are children. After the event, the majority of participants want to use their bikes more often and have a better understanding of the cycle path network, proof that Vélotour also participates in the development of this practice. It’s a source of pride for us, ”says Bastien de Marcillac, Vélotour director.
Come in disguise!
To spice up the crankset, the organizers invite cyclists to come in disguise. Gifts will reward the most quirky and original outfits.
Vélotour Occitanie, Sunday September 5, 2021. Departures between 8 am and 11 am from the Stadium, depending on the route (within the limit of 5,000 participants).
Prices: 10 to 15 euros (free to 10 euros for children under 12).
