“This situation is problematic”

“As she has already transformed the upper body, and while waiting to complete all his operations, this person asked the justice to recognize your change of gender and building“, explained to our colleagues a prison officer. For the guards, who can perform professional gestures only on a person of the same sex, the situation is complicated.

These officers are amazed at the idea of having to perform full searches on someone of the opposite sex

“These officers are flabbergasted at the thought of having to practice full excavations on a person of the opposite sex, or at least, possessing the attributes of the masculine gender, in this case: a penis and testicles “, explains the local representative of the prison union supervisors (SPS) of the Seysses remand center. And to add: “We do not question his fight but this situation is problematic.”

Another solution claimed

The union therefore wrote to the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office so thata legal solution be found. Officers suggest the prisoner be transferred to a prison that has a suitable neighborhood, as is the case in Fleury-Mérogis (Essonne).

In the meantime, after having been placed in solitary confinement, for safety, for several weeks in the men’s quarter, the detainee benefits from an individual cell. She participates in activities with the other prisoners of the remand center.
