The sports medicine and trauma unit (UMTS) of the Toulon-La Seyne intercommunal hospital center (Chits) continues its harvest in the world of sport. It has just concluded a new agreement with the Hyères-Toulon-Var Basket Club (HTV), whose flagship team has just entered the professional world. A signature that formalizes a partnership already launched since « The people present are already working together »underlines Yann Le Bras, director of the hospital center.
It was last spring that Doctor Jean-Jacques Raymond, head of UMTS, met Mathieu Perrymond, president of HTV, as the club was preparing to win the National 1 championship and move up to Pro B. « There is a real project behind this rise and it is not limited to the simple supervision of a group. »explains Doctor Jean-Jacques Raymond, who works with the professional group, but also wishes to devote time to the training center and to the implementation of a real educational project.
Necessary professionalization
« This partnership has changed the lives of the team and goes far beyond sport, welcomes Mathieu Perrymond, president of HTV, recalling that The performance of a team necessarily involves professionalization of the medical profession, because it is the team’s results that follow. » As part of this partnership, pre-season assessments have already been established, with psychological assessment, personalized dietary and medical monitoring. A new support that offers real added value, particularly for « three Anglo-Saxon recruits who discover a process, a system that they did not know, as well as for future recruitments »says Mathieu Perrymond.
