Domestic violence: around a hundred women received at CHITS since January 2024
As part of the International Day Against Violence Against Women, an information stand and health professionals were present at the hospital on Monday
Sainte Musse and at the George Sand hospital.
Since the beginning of the year, a specialized service has opened at CHITS: the Reception Service for Victims of Domestic Violence. Certainly, medical care has always
existed, but now, the professionals of the hospital center want to go further by ensuring monitoring and ensuring the safety of the victim. This service, directed by Dr Mouna Pantel El Omri, is established in a particular context: that of trials in
courses, which highlight the excesses of our society.
At his side, Dr Quentin BERL, gynecologist, is the Violence referent at the Gynecological-Obstetrics Center. And this is no coincidence: 40% of physical violence begins during
the first pregnancy. Two social workers, Lylou Zinck in Sainte Musse and Eva Pons, in George Sand complete the team which calls on a psychologist, Claire Ruiz.
Violence in all its forms
Violence is not only physical: blows leave traces, words also hurt and can destroy. In a society where sects play a harmful role
Obviously, economic and, of course, sexual violence is increasing, detection is a new difficult but necessary responsibility, and begins upon arrival at the Emergency Department.
When the danger is proven, as Dr Berl explains, “removal from home is suggested and results, if necessary, in hospitalization”
Filing a complaint is not always easy, because the victim is not always ready. But consent is not necessary if the victim is a minor, or a vulnerable person.
This practical information is primarily aimed at caregivers who, through their attentiveness and kindness, can avoid many tragedies… And, for everyone, a number not to be missed
forget: 3919 (Violences Femmes Info) national help number for women victims of violence.
