Toulon Approved Taxis Converge in Protest Against Health Insurance Fund Decision

Traffic is definitely becoming dangerous around Toulon this week. Before the farmers’ snail operation on Thursday morning (read our yesterday’s editions), it is the approved taxis, that is to say with a driver having the authorization required to operate medical transport of seated patients, which will converge this Wednesday from 7 a.m. in two convoys from Sanary and La Garde, towards the CPAM du Var, Rode district.

60 to 100% of turnover

A demonstration following “the unilateral decision of Mr. Thomas Fatôme, director of the National Health Insurance Fund, to publish a new agreement on December 11 (it occurs every five years, Editor’s note) and this without consultation or negotiations with our professional organizations”, declares Laurence Levallois, president of UNT 83 (National Taxi Union).

Some 570 approved taxis are listed in the Var. Medical transport represents 60 to 100% of their turnover.

Insured persons warned

“We have warned policyholders to organize themselves differently this Wednesday morning. Around a hundred vehicles should be mobilized. It is planned that a delegation will be received in the morning by the director of the Primary Health Insurance Fund of Var, Jean François Civet. A second interview is planned with the chief of staff of the prefect at 11:30 a.m.details Ms. Levallois who announces “a movement that can be renewed until the definitive withdrawal of this decision”.

In activity for 23 years, this Toulonnaise assimilates this renewal of agreement which must be validated on January 31 to “a 49.3 on approved taxis”.
