For the third game in a row, Bahia’s main team left the field with victory in the Bahia Championship. Against Barcelona, the tricolor failed to finish, but won the three points at Fonte Nova. After the match, coach Rogério Ceni valued the victory and highlighted the difficulty imposed by the opponent.
“I think every game is a test, today was a test, by far the most difficult game we had, a team with individual quality, a good game idea, a coach who set up the team well. We managed to create a lot of chances to finish, but it was also the team that attacked us the most in these three games”, began Ceni.
“We have to be prepared to win, prepared for any team, for any game, and win,” he added.
Rogério Ceni was asked about Bahia’s lack of concentration in the match. In the first half alone, midfielder Cauly wasted three big chances. For the coach, the wrong decision-making is the result of the start of the season, which still requires more preparation.
“I think it’s a bit of the game system, it still requires training, adjustments. I think they are trying hard, but sometimes someone forgets to make a certain movement, it seems like they don’t, but it’s a very collective marking and if someone fails they tend to burst back. You have to have a very exact timing of what you want, as it is a very compact group and we cannot break the lines. At the end of the game, we often no longer have the strength to reach, apply pressure. This is all a matter of training”, he assessed.
With ten points, Bahia established itself in Baianão’s G4 and is now aiming for the leadership of the competition. The tricolor, however, will take a break from the competition. The next challenge will be the debut in the Copa do Nordeste, this Sunday (4), at 4pm, at Fonte Nova, in the classic against Sport.
