Sergio Aguero officially retired from football. Lionel Messi also poured out a touching message for his compatriot.
Messi and Aguero are close friends. Even though they never played for the same club, they both played for Argentina National Team since junior level.
Starting from winning the 2005 U-20 World Cup, 2008 Olympic gold medal, to the 2021 Copa America, the two have won it together. They were even known as roommates while defending the Albiceleste.
Therefore, when Aguero announced he will hang up his boots on Wednesday (15/12/2021), Messi Don’t forget to say farewell. La Pulga was sad, but accepted his partner’s decision.
“Going a career together, Kun… We have had good and bad moments, they brought us together and made us closer. And we will continue this friendship off the pitch,” Messi said in a post on his social media.
“With all the joy of winning the Copa America recently, with all the achievements you have in England… It hurts to see you have to stop doing what you love because of the state you are in.”
“You will continue to be happy, because you are a person who likes to bring joy, and everyone who loves you will always be with you. Now a new chapter in your life has begun, and I am sure you will live it with a smile and enthusiasm.”
“Good luck on your new journey! I love you guys, I will miss you on the pitch, when we are together in the national team!” closed Messi.
Aguero decided to retire after experiencing heart rhythm disorders. Attacker Barcelona that last time he played last October, when he was substituted midway through the game against Deportivo Alaves after experiencing shortness of breath.
