Tottenham’s Champions League Hopes Dwindling After Loss to Chelsea

Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League are fading.

By losing 2-0 at Chelsea on Thursday, Tottenham suffered their second defeat by London opposition in four days in the Premier League, following their 3-2 home loss to Arsenal in London derby on Sunday.

Among the losses, it was confirmed that England will only have four places in the Champions League, which expands next season, instead of five.

It was another heavy blow for Spurs, who are fifth in the table and remain seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand. They still have to face Liverpool and Manchester City in their last four games, so it seems too difficult for them to close the gap with Villa.

Chelsea won it with two goals from Trevoh Chalobah in the 24th minute and Nicolas Jackson in the 72nd Mauricio Pochettino’s team is still fighting to qualify for the European Cups. It has been an infamous season in the Prime Minister for a club that was assembled with an investment exceeding 1,000 million dollars.

The Blues overtook West Ham to take eighth place, two points behind Newcastle and three behind sixth-placed Manchester United. It is very likely that two of these three teams will be competing in either the Europa League or the Europa Conference League next season.
