Gareth Bale says his Tottenham and Wales teammate Joe Rodon will become one of the Premier League’s best defenders in the near future.
The 23-year-old drew attention to the Swansea children’s club, subsequently winning a big move to the Spurs in October. However, his debut season did not go as well as he would have liked. He only made 15 appearances in all competitions. Twelve of them made it to the Premier League and, sadly, did not make the Europa League team.
However, he remains one of the best talents in his country and entered the 26-man squad for Euro 2020 in Wales.
It has been installed in Spurs hand in hand with Bale, who spent the campaign on loan from Real Madrid.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Wales’ preparation clash with France on Wednesday, Bale revealed his admiration for Rodon. In fact, he made a great prediction about the future of his compatriot.
“It’s great that we spent the past year laughing a lot,” said the 31-year-old (via Wales Online). Ben and I have the experience of [Euro] 2016 and Joe asks us all the time and tells us what he was doing when he was watching and that he wanted to be part of a tournament and now he has a chance.
“He has come by leaps and bounds this season, he has made a lot of progress in his football, he has gotten better and better and he looks like a really strong defender, sharp, and looking better and better.
“He will be one of the best defenders in the Premier League for years to come.
“This is another step in the right direction for him and something he wants to test himself with. I am sure it will do great for us. “
Wales will play Albania in their second and final warm-up match on Saturday before taking on Switzerland, Turkey and Italy in all three of their Group A matches.
Bale reveals a good Euro feeling
Bale also revealed that he feels in good shape before helping his country at Euro 2020.
The winger struggled to stay in shape earlier this season but enjoyed a late resurgence.
He said: “It was great to finish the season, the last few months, in a scoring way. I knew it, ”he said.

“I think a lot of people knew about it. It was just game time.
“Once I had a chance to continue playing and improve my actual Premier League fitness, it seemed natural to me that my form would get back in shape and start scoring.
“It’s not a surprise to me, it just had to happen.”
