Jakarta –
After nearly three months of waiting, Tottenham Hotspur will soon have a new permanent manager. he is Ange Postecogloua coach from Australia who is currently tied to the Scottish giants, Celtic.
The Guardian and Sky Sports reported, Postecoglou had spoken with Tottenham, and in principle the 57-year-old man agreed to move to North London. This will be his first experience in the Premier League.
Postecoglou will be given a two-season contract with the option to extend for another season. Now, Spurs only need to pay compensation to Celtic, considering that the coach is still under contract for another year in Glasgow.
It is known that Postecoglou has just brought Celtic to a domestic treble in the 2022-23 season, namely the Scottish League, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup. Since arriving in June 2021, he has contributed five trophies to The Bhoys.
Initially, the Greek-blooded coach was not Tottenham’s first choice to replace Antonio Conte, who left the club at the end of March. Names such as Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Arne Slot were considered.
But in the end nothing materialized. Precisely Postecoglou who was present welcomed this tough task. He is expected to bring Tottenham back to the top flight of the Premier League next season after only finishing eighth in the 2022-23 season.
Celtic have also moved to find a replacement for Postecoglou. Brendan Rodgers and Jesse Marsch are reported to be candidates for the new coaching post.
