Jakarta –
A Tottenham Hotspur scout leaked the player his team is currently eyeing in a television interview. He later resigned after creating a stir within the club.
Jeff Vetere, 58, just joined Tottenham last September after being appointed by sporting director Fabio Paratici. He is still on probation.
But recently, he appeared in a Colombian television interview, WinSportsTV and said that Tottenham were considering signing Kevin Mier, a 22-year-old goalkeeper currently defending Atletico Nacional.
ESPN reported that a number of senior figures within the club were angry with Vetere for ‘giving away kitchen secrets’. A formal meeting was held, but Vetere withdrew immediately before his assessment appeared.
Tottenham are indeed looking for a new goalkeeper, considering that currently goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is 36 years old and his contract remains until 2024. But they don’t seem to like it when their strategy is leaked to the public.
Vetere is actually not new to the world of football. He has worked for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, to Real Madrid. Prior to moving to Tottenham, he served as sporting director of Birmingham City which ended in 2018.
