Tottenham received another big slap from Newcastle

The last time Newcastle and Tottenham met at St James’ Park (April last year), the Magpies won 6-1 after leading by five goals midway through the first half. Spurs – who are in a big fight with Aston Villa for fourth place – obviously wanted to avoid this now, but their defense failed this afternoon too.

The home team in the 30th minute Alexander Isak they took the lead with their first shot that hit the goal, and then a minute and a half later, with a glaring mistake by Pedro Porro Anthony Gordon he even doubled the advantage (poor Micky van de Vent, Spurs’ Dutch centre-back was badly laid for both goals…).

This season, Gordon has scored for all members of the “Big Six” – that is, in addition to Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City at St James’ Park.

After the turn Isak he scored another goal, again at the end of a counterattack (and again from Van de Ven), then the penalty kick in the hair after a corner Fabian Schär he gave it to the London ensemble (4–0).

Isak finished the match with two goals, Gordon with one goal and two assists, Newcastle scored a total of ten goals against Tottenham in the last two home league games.
