SUMMARY

The 195th North London derby had huge stakes, as at the beginning of the championship, Arsenal is in the race for the league title, while Tottenham is in the race for the fourth place, which also means the start of the Champions League. Accordingly, both teams acted offensively and went forward for the goal, which was achieved by Arsenal with considerable home help, because after one of the visitors’ corners Höjbjerg headed for his own goal. The Spurs could have equalized quickly, but Romero first headed a little near the left post and then hit the left post. Then Van de Ven already managed to find the goal, but he started offside, so with the help of VAR, Michael Oliver rightly disallowed the goal.

A few minutes later, the home team was already two goals behind, because in a counterattack after Havertz’s start Of found it. The Spurs players had some right to complain, as Kulusevski’s ankle seemed to have been twisted by Trossard in the Arsenal penalty area before the goal, but the VAR did not see a foul, so instead of a penalty kick, a home penalty kick was awarded. The “spurs” did not collapse, but they went forward in vain, the leader scored again: after Rice’s corner Havertz had a productive head. Szon even had a bigger chance at the end of the first half, but he didn’t manage to score, so Spurs could wait for the continuation with a three-goal deficit, even though they had more possession of the ball and didn’t play badly at all.

Tottenham came out energetically in the second half, but this did not go hand in hand with chances, Arsenal had good control of the match. In fact, Saka could have closed the match, but his shot was saved by Vicario with his foot. This took its toll, Spurs improved almost from nothing: after a home pass, Raya made a huge mistake, giving the ball away to Romero, who greeted him warmly and shot into the net. The home team gained strength from the goal, the visiting team could no longer play football at such a comfortable pace as in the first half of the second half. However, Spurs didn’t really get any chances for a long time, even though another home goal could have made the game very exciting. In the end, Rice managed to make the end of the match really exciting, as he kicked Davies inside the penalty area – the penalty Son sold it.

Spurs pressed in the beginning, went forward to equalize, but could not score another goal, so they lost and were a step behind against Aston Villa. Arsenal, on the other hand, played another important match, so after the round, they will surely stay ahead of Manchester City, who have fewer games played, in the table. 2–3
