Tottenham Hotspur has expressed interest in signing Sassuolo defender Mert Muldur, according to a report from Austria.
The 22-year-old right-back, born in Vienna, is a Turkish international who is attracting the interest of several European clubs. One such club is the Spurs, who are looking to improve on Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty. Indeed, it is possible that Aurier will leave this summer with PSG interested in re-signing the defender.
Según Kronen Newspaper (via Spox) The Spurs have chosen Muldur as a player who could become a first-class defender.
The right-back is signed by the Italian club until 2024 and, as his agent points out, he is constantly learning his trade in Serie A.
“There are always conversations with the best clubs in Italy and England,” Muldur’s adviser Max Hagmayr told the Kronen Zeitung. “However, it always failed due to the transfer fee. Currently, a transfer is not a problem.
“It feels like home here. There is a very good defensive development with him. Nowhere else can you improve defensively and tactically like in Italy ”.
The implication that Hamayr is “not a problem” when talking about a transfer is unclear. Sassuolo’s stance is also unknown.
They bought it in the summer of 2019 from SK Rapid for 4.7 million euros and would probably be looking to quadruple their money on the player.
Muldur, who has made 28 Serie A appearances this season, has been included in Turkey’s 30-man provisional squad for next month’s Euro Cup.

Lingard interest
Meanwhile, Tottenham has been named as suitors for West Ham borrower Jesse Lingard.
Athletic have reported that West Ham feels their only chance of getting Lingard is through a partial exchange deal. The fact that they now seem likely to miss out on a place in Europe has dashed their hopes of signing the Manchester United midfielder.
However, there is another interest in Lingard. And 90min they say that “Tottenham is a club that is watching closely”.
However, again any possible deal could hinge on whether the Spurs can finish at the European venues.
The Spurs may have some money to spend if they sell Harry Kane. Sky Sports has reported that Kane has told Daniel Levy that he wants to leave this summer after nearly leaving the club last summer.
Tottenham are considering replacing Kane this summer and while Levy is understood to loathe selling him to Premier League rival Lingard as a middleweight, he could make a deal.
