Tottenham have started talks with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, valued at £ 50m, according to a transfer expert.
Nuno Espirito Santo is now in the North London hot seat and is targeting the central defender as his first signing. It may well be that the Portuguese strategist is trying to attract more than one midfielder to the club in the off-season. That’s because both Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sánchez are vulnerable to summer outings.
But France international Kounde it is your immediate concern and it seems that things may be progressing. It will be a real blow for Nuno if he manages to land the Frenchman, with many clubs linked to the stopper.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been mentioned in connection with the 22-year-old. And it became known earlier this week that the Spanish giants Real Madrid had entered the scene.
Thursday’s edition of Sport, (via Sport Witness) suggested that Los Blancos wanted to include Isco in the deal. They can’t afford to pay Kounde’s € 80 million exit clause, but it looks like the Spurs may now be at the front of the queue.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims Tottenham have now ‘opened talks’ to sign Kounde.
Kounde hopes to leave Sevilla
Kounde has been excellent for Julen Lopetegui’s team for two seasons, with 88 appearances in all competitions. But, in May, he made it clear where your future lies.
“Regarding my future, it is certain that I may have to change clubs this summer,” he said: “But nothing has been finalized yet, I have not decided anything.”
He may still be undecided, but it’s good news for Spurs fans that dialogue has started on the proposed measure. Athletic has reported that Los Nervionenses will demand a fee in the region of 50 million pounds.
Romano suggests that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium bosses have spoken with their representatives during a summer changeover.
The Italian said on the podcast ‘Here We Go’ (broadcast by TBR Football): “Kounde could be an opportunity. Also for Manchester United they are on the list.
“Tottenham are considering moving, they are in contact with their agents. Tottenham will surely do something in defense, right back and central. In the next weeks “.
It is not known if the Spurs are willing to pay the quoted price or will seek to reduce it or use a player as weight.
