Do you remember when Manchester United bought Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur in 2008? At that time, it took nine months until Tottenham finally accepted an offer of 38 million Euros which was quite large at that time.
Berbatov went on to win eight titles with MU including the Premier League twice. At that time, the Spurs bought Frazier Campbell and Roman Pavlyuchenko to replace Berbatov, but both failed.
The same thing happened when Tottenham released Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013. Bale was bought for 101 million Euros and broke the transfer record at the time.
Tottenham then invested in selling Bale by buying many players such as Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Christian Eriksen. All of these players, failed to present a championship title.
Harry Kane still continues to be Tottenham’s goal machine and Spurs’ mainstay to continue to compete at the highest level. So now, The Lilywhites are determined not to fall into the same hole three times!
