Tottenham Hotspur Close to Appointing Ange Postecoglou as Head Coach

According to reports from The Athletic, the Tottenham Hotspur is close to appointing Ange Postecoglou, current Celtic manager, as their new head coach. Postecoglou has been considered the main candidate to replace Antonio Conte and a deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days.

The 57-year-old Postecoglou has had a successful spell in charge of Celtic since his appointment in 2021. In his first year, he helped the club regain the Scottish Premiership title and successfully defended it en route to a domestic treble.

The former Australia national team manager has also enjoyed success in his native country, with both the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, as well as Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. After winning the Scottish Cup last Saturday, Postecoglou was non-committal to his future with Celtic and expressed his desire to enjoy the moment before attention diverted from him.

Tottenham have been without a permanent head coach since Conte’s departure in March. The club have been looking for a candidate who can instigate a cultural change and reinvigorate the style of play after failing to secure a place in European competitions after finishing eighth in the Premier League.

Before approaching Postecoglou, Tottenham considered several prominent candidates, including Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Conte left the club by mutual consent in March, following a controversial statement calling his players “selfish”. Following his departure, Cristian Stellini and then Ryan Mason took over on an interim basis, but were unable to secure European football for the team.

With the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, the club hopes that the experienced manager can lead them towards a new stage full of success and satisfaction for the fans of the London team.
