MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
English Tottenham Hotspur announced on Tuesday the signing of Australian Ange Postecoglou as their new coach for the next four seasons, becoming the first from his country to lead a Premier League team.
“Now that the season and all domestic cup competitions have concluded, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as our new first team manager. Becoming the first Australian to manage in the Premier League, Ange will join us on July 1 with a four-year contract,” the ‘Spurs’ stated on their website.
Postecoglou, his country’s national coach between 2013 and 2017, already knows British football since he comes from Scottish Celtic, where he has spent the last two seasons, with the national treble in this one that has just ended. He now comes to a bench that the Italians Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini spent last season, in addition to Ryan Mason who ended the year on an interim basis.
“Ange brings a positive mindset and a fast, attacking style of play. She has a strong track record in player development and an understanding of the importance of the academy link, which is important to our club. We are excited to have Ange join join us as we prepare for next season,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said.
