Tottenham will be looking to get rid of “at least six players” this summer before they can start thinking about strengthening their squad, says a report.
The Spurs have been hit hard by the Covid-19 lockdown and have announced losses of £ 63.9 million in November. That has led Daniel Levy to rethink how to approach the summer transfer window with sales at the forefront of his mind.
The Daily mail reports Tottenham “will be looking for a new goalkeeper, right back and central defender” when the window goes live in June. Nick Pope from Burnley is supposedly his main goal as a goalkeeper.
However, before José Mourinho can start allocating funds for the newcomers, he will have to get rid of part of his team.
Serge Aurier, Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela and Juan Foyth could go ahead with their future in doubt.
Danny Rose will end his 14-year stint at the club when his contract expires in the summer.
Dele Alli and Harry Winks could also find their time this summer. Neither of them have managed to get a lot of playtime recently and both have linked up with moves abroad. They are also two players who would demand hefty transfer fees as the Spurs look to get their balance in order.
Loan forwards Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius also appear ready to return to their respective clubs. Bale, on £ 250,000 a week, He has made it clear that the plan was always to return to Real Madrid after 12 months back with Spurs.
Meanwhile, Vinicius will return to Benfica and Tottenham are unwilling to play the £ 36m option they have to buy the forward permanently.
Kane’s future
Of course, a player who would eliminate his deficit would be Harry Kane.
Kane’s future has been a topic of conversation for some time. He has previously stated that he will leave the club if he thinks it is correct. And despite rising through the ranks of the Spurs to become their captain, he insists he won’t stick around for the sake of it.
The Spurs and Levy obviously want Kane to stay. It is also understood that the Spurs president is not willing to lose Kane to an English rival if the player approaches him and asks him to leave.
No decision has been made so far, but he recently admitted that he will review his Euro situation.
But, according to a report by. (via Football365), whether Tottenham finishes in the top four or not will be a factor in their decision.
