Crystal Palace hosted Tottenham on Saturday in a London derby in the fourth round of the Premier League. After a goalless first half, it got really hot at the beginning of the second.
Tottenham’s Lucas Moura was lying on the offensive half and Spurs then wanted Palace to play the ball out of the sideline. The home team continued to play and the ball went out to Wilfried Zaha on the left wing. Japhet Tanganga in Tottenham reacted by pushing down Zaha with open arms and the players clung to each other. Emotions swelled and great tumult broke out in Tottenham’s half of the field with several players from both teams involved.
Just a few minutes later, Tanganga received his second yellow card when he handed out a tough tackle on Jordan Ayew and was sent off. With a quarter of an hour left to play, it got even worse for Tottenham. Then Palace got a penalty when Ben Davies took the ball with his hand in his own penalty area. Zaha stepped forward and sent in 1-0 from the penalty spot.
Palace’s new acquisition Odsonne Edouard was substituted after 83 minutes, making her debut for the club. Just 30 seconds later, he found the net to 2-0 on a pass from Zaha. In extra time, Edouard fixed the final score to 3-0 with a new close shot. A true dream debut for the former Celtic forward.
