Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Tottenham condemns the racist harassment directed at Son Heung-min on social media following the 1-3 home defeat of Manchester United on Sunday (11/4) night.
The South Korean forward was involved in an incident that saw Edinson Cavani’s goal controversially overturned by VAR in the first half after Scott McTominay was judged to have violated Son in the process of scoring.
Son was the target of racist insults both in the comments section of the official Spurs Twitter account and in the comments column for his latest Instagram post.
“Another match day and the more disgusting racial abuse suffered by one of our players,” read an official Tottenham statement on its social media account.
“This has once again been reported to the platform and we will now conduct a full review with the Premier League to determine the most effective course of action going forward
“We support you, Sonny.”
Son is the latest victim in a seemingly endless series of racist abuse on social media. Earlier, Raheem Sterling received a message of resentment following Manchester City’s 1-2 defeat to Leeds on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a goal scored by Son Heung-min was unable to prevent his team from losing to Manchester United last night. In this match, Tottenham lost 1-3 to Manchester United.
Fred, Edison Cavani and Mason Greenwood scored three Manchester United goals.
