After critics made some comments mocking Tottenham’s squandering its lead more than once, coach Ange Postecoglou said that he only wants to focus on his work required at the current stage instead of paying attention to hearsay and descriptions.
For a short period, the London club occupied the top spot in the English Football League, when it won eight of the first 10 matches it played in the current season, but it fell to fifth place, after a winless march that lasted for five consecutive matches.
The Australian coach told reporters: “What I need to know is that this club has not won any title in 15 years. This is all I need to know. This is the reality of the situation and we cannot ignore that.”
Tottenham have not won any major title since winning the League Cup in the 2007-2008 season.
Postecoglou added: “As is the case in most organizations, you have to learn from the mistakes of the past and you have to come up with a plan, and whatever descriptions others give, it will not help you. If you want to achieve success, you must have a clear idea of how to deal with the situation and stick to it.” .
Postecoglou, who joined Tottenham last June on a four-year contract, said he is still in the early stages of implementing his plan at the club.
Postecoglou went on to say: “For the players, I allow them to have the space they want. I tell them clearly about my opinions and ideas and after that the implementation and acceptance depends on them.”
Tottenham lost the last three matches they played in their stadium, and “Sunday” they host Newcastle United.
