“Tote Hosen” drummer Vom Ritchie is now German

Düsseldorf. Vom Ritchie (56), actually Stephen George Ritchie, drummer for Toten Hosen, is now German. On Thursday, Ritchie presented his naturalization certificate in the band’s official Instagram account – properly dressed in leather pants with a checked shirt and traditional hat.

Ritchie went the opposite way of his boss Campino, who two years ago had acquired British citizenship in addition to German.

Drummer retains British passport

“Vom did the same as Campino and kept his British passport,” said the record label JKP on request. The trigger for dual citizenship was Brexit. “Before that there was no real pressure because the UK was part of the EU and he could move around freely.”

Ritchie was born in England. There he drummed in punk bands such as the Boys and Doctor & the Medics, before replacing the seriously ill and now deceased Wolfgang (Wölli) Rohde at the Toten Hosen.
