It’s Christmas early for schoolchildren in the town of L’Hôpital. The TotalEnergies site in Carling donated several computers to the Joseph Ley and Pierre Philipps school groups. The handover of the computers took place a few days ago, we were there.
Sound No. 1 – TotalEnergies donates 15 laptops to schoolchildren at L’Hôpital
A donation to support education
Give rather than throw away. It is with 15 laptops and 2 desktops that the director of the TotalEnergies platform, Corinne Loigerot, arrives at L’Hôpital.
One of the major axes of the TotalEnergies foundation is precisely education, training for the integration of young people, so we are right in this area with this handover of computers.
Computers which no longer meet the group’s security standards, but which are still in working order. A gift that the mayor, Emmanuel Schuler, wholeheartedly welcomes.
Budgets cannot be extended these days, and it’s true that it’s a godsend for us. I am very happy for the children and for our schools.
A plus in children’s learning
This morning it is Salima Huff, and her CM2 students who are the first to benefit from it. For their first computer lesson Leila and Louanne discover the basics of word processing. They have fun changing the writing colors on the software.
We had to write our first and last names. We had to put the colors and the size together.
Salima Huff welcomes this new tool with as much pleasure as her students, which complements the traditional notebook.
For me, the interest is enormous! We will use it in the context of word processing, it allows us to do writing, to use collaborative walls, the “padlet”. Children will be able to express themselves, write, so there will really be continuity between class and home.
A timely tool. In a few days an allophone student will enter the school.
This will allow me to do some off-the-wall activities for him. While I am with the rest of the class, I could offer her videos where she will be able to learn vocabulary, learn sentences from videos where we really have the link between French and its original language.
Thanks to computers, CM2 students will also be able to work on creating videos. A first project to talk about school bullying is already being considered.
