Total War Saga: Troy is free in Epic Games Store first 24 hours after release – Gaming – News

I don’t think Steam has any conditions that publishers should adhere to as offering exclusively on Steam.

Because Steam has been the best platform for years (and still is imo), because they continuously build features and continue to expand the platform, it is very popular yes, and a platform that no one else can match at the moment.

But if someone decides to throw their mess on other storefronts, that’s no problem, and for example GoG has also found a niche by offering something that Steam does not (or cannot) do, namely complete freedom of DRM in all her games.

They compete on the storefront and the platform itself, which is good.
Epic competes by purchasing the content from Steam and offering it exclusively. That is bullshit, especially if they buy up games whose predecessors in that series have been released on Steam and other platforms for years. Can you say “that’s their right !!” yes it is, but that they are allowed to do it does not mean that we should be satisfied with it.

Basically I deleted my Epic Games account a while back after they opened their Store and I have to say I haven’t missed it for a moment. Free games are fun, but I’d rather pay more to keep my principles somewhat.

This reminds me of just about any company that first raises a huge amount of money through promises and exponential growth in the early years (Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, Uber, etc.) and once they are in a comfortable market position they buy their competitors and expand them into many more other markets.

For example, every company is now practically a data collection company, because it is easy to obtain, and it is also very valuable. First grow big by offering free shit and a monopoly position, and then you are so big that you can take out all the competition by just putting tons of money on it.
