JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The total solar eclipse (GMT) April 8 2024 is one of the phenomena most eagerly awaited by astronomy fans.

A total solar eclipse is a phenomenon when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth.
The moon’s shadow then covers the entire surface of the Sun, which should be visible from Earth.

During a total solar eclipse, some areas on Earth will experience dark skies such as dawn or dusk.
However, unfortunately, Indonesian people cannot see GMT directly.
This is because the total solar eclipse of April 8 2024 can only be witnessed in Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that Indonesian people would not be able to see the total solar eclipse on April 8 2024, because when the phenomenon occurred, the country was at night.
“Unfortunately, Indonesia cannot see it, because when GMT occurs, Indonesia’s territory will be on the dark side of the earth (at night),” wrote BMKG on the bmkg.go.id page, Monday (1/4/2024).
