Total metal boss: Kretschmann as a Green candidate in the federal government – Baden-Württemberg

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Even if Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (72) is not running for re-election until March, the Greens should send him as a top candidate in the federal election from the perspective of overall metal boss Stefan Wolf. The President of the Employers’ Association recommended a “learning process” to the party leadership composed of Robert Habeck and Annalena Baerbock, who are thus the most promising candidates for the top candidacy. “If a Green party colleague successfully leads a large federal state for years, then you can think about such orders,” Wolf told the newspapers of the Funke media group (Wednesday).

“Winfried Kretschmann is a very good and pragmatic Prime Minister, who has an incredible ear for the economy and at the same time is committed to the environment,” said Wolf, who himself comes from Baden-Württemberg and is CEO of the automotive supplier ElringKlinger in Dettingen / Erms (Reutlingen district ) is. “It is therefore important who is at the head of the Greens in the Bundestag election,” said Wolf. Kretschmann understood that Germany as an industrial location would have to be made attractive in 25 years’ time in order to preserve many jobs and that the whole thing would have to be combined with environmental protection.

The fact that Kretschmann switches to federal politics is, however, ruled out. When he announced in 2019 – i.e. before Corona – that he would run again for the state election, he justified the decision with upheavals in society and the economy and with climate change. In addition, he wants to apply for a full term of five years.
