Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting his colleague Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez was previously found guilty of shooting the woman’s feet after a party in Hollywood Hills.
With the ruling, the long-running case surrounding the two comes to an end, the news agency writes AP. Thirteen years in prison had been demanded against Daystar Peterson, as the Canadian rapper is really called.
In addition to shooting Megan Pete, as Megan Thee Stallion is actually called, Lanez has also been convicted of possessing an illegal weapon and using that weapon rashly.
The shooting took place in July 2020. The two drove away from the party with a few others when an argument broke out. Pete then got out of the car, after which Lanez pointed a gun at her and shot at her feet. Pete stated that shortly before that he would have yelled at her to “dance”.

The rapper had to go to the hospital and had surgery on her feet. In court, Pete said she was healing “slowly but surely”, but she will “never be the same again”.
Lanez always said he was innocent. He also rapped on his album, among other things Daystar about the incident, in which he stated that he had not done it. Pete also made a song entitled Shots Firedin which she referred to the incident.
The American is known for hits such as Savage in WAP. Pete, 28, has won three Grammys for her music to date, including one for Best New Artist in 2021.
