Tortilla chips are withdrawn from the market

Coop is recalling Änglamark Tortilla Chips 125 grams after high levels of Tropanalkaloid have been detected in the products. The product has now been removed from the store.

The company writes this in a press release on Friday afternoon.

Tropan alkaloid is naturally present in the product, and there is currently no maximum limit for how high values the products can contain. From 1 September, however, a limit value of 5.0 μg/kg will be introduced.

– These are products with a long shelf life. Goods that are out in the shop have a best-by date after the new regulations come into force. Customers must be confident about the goods they buy at Coop and we therefore want to remove the products from our stores. Customers who have the products can return them to the store and get their money back or a new product, says communications manager Harald Kristiansen at Coop Norge.
