Torres recovers Conrado Domínguez as SCS director | BE Las Palmas

Conrado Domínguez will be the new director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS). It is not a new position for him because he already held it during the Government of Fernando Clavijo, which he entered as an independent and to be José Manuel Baltar’s right-hand man. This time will replace Alberto Pazos and becomes the fourth director of this area in just over a year, the time that Ángel Víctor Torres has led the presidency of the Canarian Executive.

It will be this Thursday in Governing Council when Domínguez is officially appointed to assume a key position in the management of the health emergency of the coronavirus. And it is that the Canary Islands presents an epidemiological panorama with infections on the rise. There are currently 4558 active cases and 31 outbreaks; 30 in the province of Las Palmas.

Before Domínguez, Blanca Médez assumed this position when Teresa Cruz headed the Ministry of Health; Antonio Olivera under the baton of Julio Pérez and Alberto Pazos with Blas Trujillo as counselor. The latter, Pazos, has been replaced when he was about to serve two months at the helm of the SCS.

Conrado Domínguez’s extensive experience in Health Economics has led him to gain the trust of Torres, who came to designate him as technical coordinator of the Health Emergency Management Committee during the alarm state.
