CINCINNATI (AP) — Joaquin Torres had a key goal for Montreal, which beat Cincinnati 4-3 on Saturday.
Torres’ goal came in the 67th minute to give the Canadian team the definitive lead. Kei Kamara lavished the assist on that touchdown.
Djordje Mihailovic scored twice for Montreal and Kamara got one.
Brandon Vázquez and the Argentine Luciano Acosta contributed two goals to the cause of Cincinnati.
Montreal got within four points and moved out of last place in the Eastern Conference. Cincinnati stayed at six and is tenth.
It was a day in which the Argentines got so many crucial. Julián Carranza opened the scoring for the Philadelphia Union to beat Charlotte 2-0; Pablo Ruiz scored the goal as Real Salt Lake tied the Colorado Rapids 1-1, and Marcelino Moreno scored the only goal in Atlanta United’s 1-0 win over DC United.
Saturday’s action opened with a 0-0 draw between the Chicago Fire and Dallas.
Later, Los Angeles FC beat Orlando City 4-2 with a goal from Spanish Ilie Sánchez; Toronto beat defending champion New York City FC 2-1 with a goal from Spain’s Jesús Jiménez Núñez, and Colombia’s Carlos Darwin Quintero scored the opener in the Houston Dynamo’s 3-1 victory over Inter Miami.
In other games, Nashville outscored the Columbus Crew 1-0; the New York Red Bulls also narrowly defeated the New England Revolution; the San Jose Earthquakes tied 2-2 with Austin; the Seattle Sounders beat Minnesota United 2-1, and the Vancouver Whitecaps beat Sporting Kansas City 1-0.
