The meteorological situation is changing rapidly in the next few hours, according to an emergency bulletin from the National Meteorological Service, BNR reported.

Heavy rainfall is expected both in the Attica region and in the northern part of the country. Authorities on the island of Kefalonia have closed the beaches and warned tourists to be careful when driving outside. Cars were banned from parking near the sea.

For Northern Greece-Halkidiki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis heavy rains are expected and hail in places, according to forecasts.

On the island of Euboea, which was set on fire by large-scale fires a month ago, authorities are taking emergency measures against floods. The Aegean islands are threatened by torrential rains tonight and strong sea storms. For now, the ferries run on schedule, but are likely to be stopped.
