Igor Larionov, on the contrary, after the victory over SKA, made changes due to the return to action of Igor Larionov Jr. and Sergei Goncharuk, as well as the transfer of Nikolai Kovalenko to the injured list. Each Torpedo unit had a chance to score a goal, but time after time the hosts lacked composure and accuracy in the final stages. “Spartak” attacked much less frequently and did not cause any special problems for Kulbakov in the second period.

We made adjustments during the first break and played differently from the second. They became more aggressive, there were more quick passes that cut through Spartak’s aggressive pressure. Ivan Kulbakov had difficulties due to dehydration, but he showed character and kept the team in the game. It’s nice that Mikhail Orlov does the job that is not typical for him – he scores goals from a dime. I’ll ask him where he got it. A strict defensive player who doesn’t invent much, but his rare raids to the opponent’s goal end in success. We planned to play today with the full squad, but, unfortunately, Nikolai Kovalenko is out for at least two weeks. Igor Larionov Jr. changed his visor twice because he has a special one – allowed after concussions in the NHL. A month ago, we sent a letter to Alexey Anisimov that this was a necessary measure for medical reasons, and he approved it. But for some reason he didn’t tell anyone about it. The judges couldn’t reach him by phone today. It’s good that during the second period the referees received a call, they came up, apologized and said that everything was fine. I won’t say anything about Artemy Knyazev. I turned off my phone at 5 pm and I don’t know what’s going on. All questions to Maxim Gafurov. The deadline is tomorrow and we don’t want to make the wrong moves at the last second. There was a conversation about Knyazev, but I don’t know how it ended. A month ago, in a conversation with me, he expressed a desire to come to Torpedo even the next day.
At the beginning of the final third, the guests tried to gain a foothold in the opponent’s zone with control of the puck, and the Nizhny Novgorod team twice dangerously counterattacked. The exchange of deletions that followed did not have much impact on the game design. Spartak’s players had more possession of the puck and were more often in the attacking zone, but it didn’t come to the point of real threats. Michal Czajkowski received a micro-injury and could not finish the match. Ilya Kovalchuk has not yet fully regained his playing tone. Training is training, but the rhythm of the game is completely different. Through games, Ilya will catch him. I think he will be 100% ready for the playoffs.

After the break, Maxim Shabanov also extended his scoring streak to four games. The Cherepovets improved their attack and started shooting more often. The guests played in a disciplined manner, not giving their opponents a chance to gain a numerical advantage, but before the break, Alexander Skorenov scored in the minority.
