Toronto FC were in serious danger of being relegated to bottom in the Eastern Conference with a loss, but a 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday at BMO Field saw them avoid this disgrace.
Yet, after taking a 1-0 lead at the half, thanks to a net from Deandre Kerr, the crowd favorites left their rivals of the day, tied the game, and then took the lead, in less than a quarter of hour.
Carlos Teran tied the game first, before seeing Kacper Przybylko give the visitors the lead.
Alejandro Pozuelo took matters into his own hands afterwards. He easily converted a penalty in the 70th minute before beating goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina with a shot with major league precision. His powerful shot, in the 78th minute, hit the underside of the crossbar head-on. The ball immediately bounced just inside the net, before coming out immediately.
The Ontario team climbed to 12th place in the Eastern Conference – out of 14 teams – with 15 points in 14 games.
