A THUNDERSTORM hit New York City on Saturday, sending hail to all five boroughs and a possible tornado across Long Island.
Heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 40 mph were also a problem as the skies darkened from the storm.
A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Long Island by the National Weather Service. The warning was issued from Hewlett to Levittown.
Reports of hail have been found from Tottenville to Staten Island to Woodlawn in the Bronx and has even affected parts of New Jersey.
Ice has also started to accumulate in some areas.
Wind restrictions caused all upper level lanes of the Verrazzano Bridge to close. Commuters are advised to research alternative routes.
Power outages were also reported in Staten Island, forcing Con Edison to respond.
