Torino – Torino suffers their sixth defeat in their last seven outings, including the Italian Cup; Fiorentina wins again and achieves their fifth consecutive victory. At the Grande Torino, Viola went 1-0 thanks to Kean‘s goal at the end of the first half. And if for the Tuscans the hopes of fighting for the Champions League zone are rising, for the Granata the situation is becoming incandescent, with the dispute against the president Urbano Cairo mounting more and more; and ahead is the derby against Juventus.
«The match report»
Maripan‘s mistake, Kean’s concreteness
If the start of the match was balanced with a slight prevalence of the granata brand, Fiorentina began to grow at half-time. Until that moment, however, opportunities in front of goal are completely lacking, so much so that the two goalkeepers risk nothing. It is Kean who breaks the balance, with the serious complicity of Maripan: it is the 41st minute when the Chilean defender misreads Ranieri’s sixty-metre pass, allowing the Viola attacker to go around him and beat Milinkovic. Two minutes and Maripan himself tries to redeem himself: free kick from Ricci. the header is peremptory but the Granata defender is offside. And so, at half-time, Fiorentina is ahead with minimal effort while Torino is accompanied to the changing rooms by whistles from the entire stadium.
Pedersen hits the post in Torino’s best chance
In the second half you expect the reaction that isn’t there: Viola starts to keep the ball while Torino is unrealistic and shows up in De Gea’s area with two high shots, first from Tameze, then from Sanabria. And if the first shot on goal, called, was Vlasic’s after almost seventy minutes, the opportunity to equalize fell on the foot of Pedersen who found himself all alone in front of De Gea but hit the post. Mandragora equalized the score six minutes later, having just come on in place of Beltran. It ends with Maratona taking it out on everyone and with Fiesole away celebrating.
