«I am not with you physically because I am busy in Rome with the bishops of Campania, but I am spiritually and with all my heart». This is what was expressed by the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, HE Monsignor Andrea Bellandi, in the message read last night, Wednesday 10 April, the Campaignon the occasion of Torchlight procession organized in honor of Francesco Pastore and Francesco Ferrara, the two carabinieri who, in the night between last Saturday and Sunday, lost their lives in a terrible road accident.
«There are no human words that can lift the soul and give comfort in the face of this enormous tragedy, which has affected two families, entire countries, those of origin of the two young carabinieri, the entire body of the force and also our city of Campagna. – he observed SE Monsignor Bellandi – These two young men both bore the name of the most loved and popular saint in our country: Francesco. And perhaps from him too they had received a noble soul, full of great ideals, available to serve others: a pure and generous soul, which was reflected in their luminous faces. A fate, incomprehensible to our eyes, took them away at the height of their youth. Lord of life, we cannot understand and humanly accept this tragedy, but we ask you to be close to their parents, to their loved ones and to all those – including us – who mourn these young brothers of ours today. We know that no tears shed are indifferent to Your heart, as those of Your Mother were when you hung on the Cross. And we know that those tears on Good Friday turned into amazement and uncontainable joy on Easter morning».
Therefore, the wish and prayer of HE Monsignor Bellandi: «May this be the hope, that it can bring a little peace and a horizon of light to all those who today are oppressed by the darkness of anguish and resentment. It encompasses all of us – our two young people, their families and friends, the populations of the countries involved, but also, I dare say, who caused so much harm with his wicked conduct – in the cloak of yours Misericordia» concluded the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno.
