Toprak Razgatlioglu impresses with second place finish in Superbike World Championship race at Assen

Toprak Razgatlioglu recovered to take second place in the first race of the Superbike World Championship in Assen. The 2021 champion was around three seconds behind the winner, Nicholas Spinelli (Barni Spark Racing Team / Ducati), when the race was stopped with seven laps to go without a restart.

The Turkish ROKiT BMW rider said in the official broadcast that the result could have been different in his favor with just one more lap, in a race he particularly enjoyed in the early stages:

First of all, congratulations to Barni Racing, but I only needed one more lap. Anyway, the race ended like this. But I really enjoyed the race, especially the first laps because the first section was completely wet and we were sliding, everyone was trying to do different lines.

For Sunday’s races, Razgatlioglu wants to go even further, as he emphasized: ‘I took second place here, but I also need a win here with BMW. But we’ll see tomorrow. Everyone is working hard for the best situation and we will see tomorrow‘.

This Sunday, the number 54 will start from third place in the Superpole race, which is where his starting position for the second main race will be determined.
