Red Bull regularly spoils us with entertaining, breathtaking and spectacular videos. This time, superbike star Toprak Razgatlioglu competed against DTM driver Ayhancan Güven – in the “Dark Canyon”.
The Karanlik Canyon in Turkey, popularly known as the “Dark Canyon,” is one of the deepest in the world and is notorious in the motorsport community for its daunting challenges. The canyon is approximately 25 kilometers long, drops over a kilometer deep and tapers to 10 to 15 meters wide at the bottom.
Red Bull took the two Turks Toprak Razgatlioglu and Ayhancan Güven out of their comfort zone and let them compete against each other off-road. Both are normally on the circuit, Toprak in the Superbike World Championship for the BMW works team and Güven in the DTM.
“Driving in a canyon is completely different than on the circuit,” smiled Razgatlioglu, who was driving a BMW F 900 GS. «My motorcycle was too heavy to make long stoppies with it. And it wasn’t easy to drive in this terrain either. But it was an exciting experience for me.”
