Porsche, the brand’s first electric SUV… Macan Electric to be launched
Porsche plans to introduce the Macan Electric, the brand’s first electric SUV, in Korea. Volkswagen Group’s new electrification platform, ‘Premium Platform Electric (PPE)’, was installed to increase not only space but also increase efficiency. The Macan Electric’s range on a single charge is 613km for the Macan 4 Electric and 591km for the Macan Turbo Electric.

Performance also stands out. When launch control is activated, the Macan 4 develops an overboost output of 408 hp (300 kW), while the Macan Turbo produces 639 hp (470 kW). The maximum torque is 66.3kg·m and 115.2kg·m, respectively. The Macan 4 reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.2 seconds, and the Macan Turbo reaches 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. The top speed of the two models is 220 km/h and 260 km/h, respectively. The Macan Electric is scheduled to be released in Korea in the second half of this year, and release model and price information have not been determined.

Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce the Maybach EQS SUV, the Maybach brand’s first electric SUV, in Korea in the first half of this year.

The Maybach EQS SUV has electric driving performance with a maximum output of 484kW and a maximum torque of 950Nm, and the driving distance on a single charge is approximately 600km.

The interior is equipped with the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’, which combines the three displays on the front seats into one. The MBUX rear seat entertainment system consisting of two 11.6-inch full HD touch screens and a 7-inch MBUX rear seat tablet are installed as standard in the rear seats.

The Maybach emblem can be seen on the stainless steel pedal system, headrest cushion, front seat back, and rear seat space, and it is equipped with Nappa leather seats with ventilated seats, massage functions, and neck and shoulder heating functions. Mercedes-Benz plans to accelerate the electrification of its mid- to large-sized SUV lineup by unveiling an EV version of the G-Class in the second half of this year. Lotus plans to launch the electric SUV ‘Eletra’ with up to 918 horsepower and the ‘Emeya’, a hyper GT car that can go from 0 to 100 mph in 2.8 seconds.

Eletra’s body length is about 5.1m, but the air resistance coefficient is only 0.26Cd. Elettra has the ability to implement level 4 autonomous driving with 4 LIDARs, 6 radars, and 7 HD cameras.
The interior is equipped with a 15.1-inch OLED with a panel thickness of only 10mm and a KEF premium surround audio system implemented with 23 speakers. The output of the audio system is expected to reach a whopping 2160W, adding to the fun of driving.

Elettra uses two powertrains. The Elettra S has a dual-motor four-wheel drive system and delivers a maximum output of 612 horsepower. The top-of-the-line Elettra R has a maximum output of 918 horsepower and performance specifications of 100.4 kg·m. The Elettra S can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.5 seconds, and the Elettra R can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.95 seconds. The battery capacity is 112kWh, and the driving range on a single charge is 600km for the Elettra S and 490km for the Elettra R, and supports 350kW ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.

Along with Elettra, Lotus also plans to introduce ‘Emeya’, a four-door hyper GT car that will lead the brand’s transition to electrification, in Korea this year. Emeya has an output of 900 horsepower and can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.8 seconds. To achieve a stable ride, an electronically controlled air suspension that detects the road surface 1,000 times per second was applied. It supports the same 350kW ultra-fast charging as Elettra, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.
An official from the automobile industry said, “Premium-luxury brands that are transitioning to electrification are continuously applying displays with wide and clear picture quality, advanced driver assistance functions close to autonomous driving, and high-specification audio and infotainment systems.” He added, “Not only driving performance, but also convenience, “The ability to introduce vehicles at reasonable prices that keep pace with the pace of technological change is expected to be a factor in determining which company will lead the market in the future.”
