Mold on the walls is not only unsightly, but also potentially dangerous. It is often found above the ceilings, under the floor, on the edge of the panel or behind the furniture. It is mainly faced by the owners of houses and apartments with high humidity. That is why we can often find it in the bathroom, kitchen or laundry room.
Moisture, poor ventilation and high temperatures are a breeding ground for mold. Their invisible spores are airborne, they settle on surfaces of organic materials, such as wood, plaster or paper. And they grow. They will destroy everything over time because they will use the material as nutrients. Mold spreads very quickly, as it is an asexual organism. This means that a single pore can reproduce trillions of mold spores within days.
Vinegar or bleach will help
If you decide to remove them yourself, don’t forget protective clothing. In the worst cases, you may experience symptoms similar to seasonal allergies. These include a cough, rash and itchy eyes. So you should have clothes that cover the whole body, waterproof shoes, gloves and preferably goggles.
If you don’t want to use store-bought chemicals, you usually remove mold with vinegar or bleach. When bleach, dilute it with water in a spray bottle in a 1:3 ratio and soak the moldy areas thoroughly with this liquid. Leave it on for a few minutes and then remove the mold with gentle circular movements with the sponge. Never dry them, you could spread their spores around. Unfortunately, bleach often removes surface stains, it does not penetrate deeply, and mold can reappear over time.
Using vinegar seems to be more effective. And maybe even easier, because you just have to pour it on the affected area without drying it directly from the bottle. In both cases, let the wet areas dry well. It can take all day. If you still see mold stains after drying, repeat the entire process. When the ceiling is completely removed, paint the wall again. Simply brushing paint over existing mold will not destroy it.
Fungal prevention
Protect your homes from roof above all else frequent ventilation. Also check for gin leaking pipeline. Don’t leave wet towels on the floor, but spread them out so they have a chance to dry. If possible, shower with the door open so that steam does not build up and condense. Do not push the furniture up to the wall so it can breathe.
The ideal humidity in your home should be between 30-60%. The higher it is, the higher the risk of damage. Protect the walls with mold resistant paint. Prevention is the only way to get rid of mold permanently.
