A total of 138 tested supplementary dental insurance companies were rated “very good”. Some of them received a grade of “0.5” and were therefore 100 percent convincing in the categories of standard care, private care (without inlays and implants), implant care, inlays, annual upper limits for total tariff benefits and waiting time.
Even if you have a hole in your tooth, treatment can be shockingly expensive. For example, if an inlay is made from ceramic or gold alloy, the health insurance company will only cover the rate that it would pay for a “normal” amalgam filling. This means that you would have to pay around 650 euros of the almost 700 euros in treatment and material fees yourself.
Depending on the package, additional dental insurance would cover a significantly larger share or cover the costs completely.
For example, Allianz’s Mein Zahnschutz 100 supplementary insurance would cover the entire amount for such a filling. But bills for dental implants are also comprehensively covered with an additional payment of almost 4,000 euros.
The benefits of the insurance companies, the Bavarian, German family insurance and DA-direkt also completely cover the costs for health insurance crowns, crowns, inlays and dentures on implants.
